Work is work, and play is play, right?
It doesn’t always have to be that way. Successful companies – and their employees – are able to inject a sense of whimsy and joy into their every day working relationships. We’re not saying to shoot Silly String at your customers, but brightening your clients’ day adds so much to their day and yours.
Sometimes it’s hard to mix in fun to a corporate environment, however, there are easy ways to spark a little fun and creativity without going overboard. These are little steps you can take to evolve your company and your relationships with customers in a fun, positive way.
Getting to know your customers is a great way to inject fun into your working relationships. Lots of sales people have lunch or dinner with their clients. The regular steak dinner can get staid in a hurry, but it’s still a very important networking tool. This is where getting to know your customers is important. How do you make a connection, set yourself apart from the crowd, and have fun? By tailoring your networking to the customer, and not just going with the tried and true.
If you want to have dinner, do something different. Take them to a place that serves things like Korean BBQ or fondue. If your customer loves baseball, get some tickets and take them out. Tailor your networking opportunities to your customer and spark their imagination. When you can prove to your clients that you’re able to think creatively, you also prove that your company is the right one to move their goals forward.
